Hang curtains higher than windows that go all the way to the floor. By creating vertical lines for the eye, you create the illusion of larger space.
Minimize colors and patterns. Keep a color scheme in living rooms, bedrooms, and other living areas. Pick one or two complementary colors, and stick to neutrals for the rest of the furniture and decorations.
